Good times

This is by far the best airport I have ever spent the night in. They actually encourage spending the night in the airport, and it's obvious that they have put in many amenities to lure you to do just that. I spent two nights here...one on each side of my trip to Singapore. The first night I actually stayed in the transit hotel, which is inside security, so you can't clear customs till morning. It was 30 USD for 6 hours including a shower ... a real bargain. The second night I spent in the area outside security. Almost everything stayed open...food, info booths, etc. I was never bothered by security or anyone else. I was able to take a shower before my flight for just 4 USD. After I checked in at 4AM, I went inside security and found even more things open, including a full bar with pool tables. There are X Boxes, TVs playing programs from around the world, and lots of food, all open all night. The airport is so clean that you could probably eat off the floor. All in all, best airport experience ever!

Not a bad place, but not great either

"It can be heaven or hell sleeping at changi. i have stayed at this airport for well over a 100 hours and everytime am surprised pleasantly or negatively.

check in arrival areas. very unpleasant to sleep. a couple of years ago changi changed all the seating to hard bucket seats which almost make it impossible to lye down without pain. the floor is a better choice. definitely clean enough to sleep on without some sort or cover. very disappointing however is that these areas turn into a playground for singaporean youth at night. most of them underage therefore not allowed into the pubs etc. i wouldn't mind this fact if it wasn't for the terrible noise that they produce. even worse were this group of indonesians who camped in the airport and wouldn't stop making unbearable noise at 3 in the morn. a good tip: go to one of the grocery shops near the underground bus stop and buy some cheap beer and get pissed. i do it everytime and only this ensures some sleep.

transit area: best sleep you could ever have in an airport. changi provides sleeping chairs with vibration alarm. they are leather and formed in a way which makes it very comfortable to sleep. a good tip: find one of the hidden away seven elevens for cheap beer. get pissed, chain smoke at one of the cool smoker-rooms and after that pass out on one of these chairs."

Um, you may want to rethink sleeping in this place

"I can't believe all the great stories about Singapore airport. We were in transit from Auckland to Malaysia and the place was crowded with not even 1 seat spare, toilets were constantly being cleaned but obviously not by experienced cleaners (if I'm unfortunate to be there again, I'll bring a clothes peg for my nose). The few food places that were open late at night served up last week's food and there wasn't a newspaper to be found in any shop."
