"We were only going to be in Amsterdam for one one, so it would have been ridiculous for us to have paid for a hostel, especially since we had heard that you were allowed to sleep in the train station. As we were exploring Amsterdam, we met a group of Italian kids who were also planning on sleeping in the station, so we joined forces. As bedtime approached (the station closes at 2am, so you have to get inside before then), we procured some carpet clippings from the garbage and made our bed amongst the lockers of the train station. Instantly, the Italian kids fell asleep and started snoring and my one friend, who had wanted to stay in a hostel, started complaining about how it was his 21st birthday and we were forcing him to sleep in a urine soaked train station. Eventually, he stormed off and we slept like babies until around 5am, when the train station opened and a cop kicked us out."
