"Small International Airport in Finnish Lapland. Served by a few Finnair flights in summer, when it is nearly empty, but in winter is served by very frequent charter flights from Britannia, Air 2000 and Excel et al. gets very busy in the winter months, as many flock with young children to meet Santa (Rovaniemi is the 'Official Airport of Santa Claus'). Lots of security around, but they did not bother me. Small snack bar and bar in the departures section, however the departures section sometimes doubles up as the arrivals section. Small carousels; this airport can be way too small for the amount of people it handles. However, if you land at 2.00p.m Finnish time as I did, you get to watch the sun go down above the beautiful Lappish forests-there are only four hours of daylight in Lapland in the winter."
