    24 hours almost a delight
Missed my one-a-day flight and spent 24 hours wandering, snoozing and enjoying. The highlight for me was the full-fledged supermarket deep in the bowels of the lower levels (gives you a chance for a brisk walk). loaded up with variety, organic/bio and fresh choices. Everyone I asked for directions was helpful. Another high spot was the zurich insurance island of free internet, all Macs, just because and please no more than 20 minutes but if it's not busy no worries. the crinkly-eyed man handed out mints for the trip after asking me to sign the guestbook & put my name in for a free blackberry. Concourse C is the sleeper's choice with grey and black multiple seats lined up on each side without benefit of armrests-3 in a row and little tables at each end. also no ceiling and lights were missing on the window side. A & B have shops and no seating. if you like a man in uniform you'll love th...

    Very pleasant experience
Slept for one night in the main area of Terminal 2 (Star Alliance). It's very large and has abundant seating; last flight leaves around 10pm and the first one in the morning is after 6am so for the whole night the airport is quiet; announcements like the boring one with abandoned luggage resume only at 5am. Seating is abundant and there were plenty of seats available; the seats are padded, reasonably soft and confortable and most important have no armrests so they're perfect for sleeping. I've had a very nice night here, the only time I was awaken was by the cleaning team which used some loud vacuum cleaners. Noone from security asked me any questions and there were quite a few other travellers sleeping as well.

  • London - Gatwick ..... xyz February, 2010
A good 1st time experience of sleeping in an airport
I had a early morning flight from Gatwick North terminal and I decided to pass the night on the airport. It was a good first time experience prompting me to do it again when I will be shortly visiting London next week. Best tip: Head straight to arrivals area of south terminal & climb on the mezzanine/1st floor. There are good leathered seats there, a 24 hours internet shop, costa cafe (24 hrs) just infront, a general shop(books/magazines/snacks/coldrinks etc) which remains half open after 1:00 AM, toilets nearby, power outlets for charging ur laptop, and the connecting bus service for North terminal is also not far away (in case your flight is departing from North). What else could you ask for a free night's stay?

  • Katowice - Pyrzowice ..... takemeaway February, 2010
Nice place to wait for departure
It's a very nice and safe place to spend a night. Pyrzowice airport is rather cosy, during night only handful of people are waiting for their friends and relatives to arrive and security is looking for your safety all the time walking nearby. We were sleeping on the view terrace (2nd floor) where you have to pay 1PLN to come in (changing machine is right by the entrance). There are many many 4-seat benches - 1 enough for 2 people to sleep. Two annoying issues are: the air conditioning which is rather noisy, but you can find few spots without the sounds; and the automatic lights which are turning on while somebody's walking and can easily wake you up. I really enjoyed sleeping on that airport and woke up really relaxed at 5am for awaited check-in to venice treviso :) oh, the toilets are clean, empty and free - right after the terrace pass.

  • Seoul - Incheon ..... veriy December, 2009
    Stress-free transit
I was transiting from Jakarta going to Ulaan Baatar and my first leg arrived in incheon at 6 am in the morning in the main terminal. I was headed directly to concourse terminal to check in for my next flight. Be aware that once you're in the concourse, you won't be able to return to the main terminal. But don't worry, there are many comfortable place to sleep in the concourse terminal. To do this, find the way to 2nd floor. There you will find many good places to sleep with nice sleep couches (the type where you can find on swimming pool only this time with cushion). Or any seats near the boarding gate are sleeper friendly. Another good option for transit. And this airport claim that they do so.

  • Sofia - Sofia International ..... Harpo June, 2009
    Clean and bright
Sofia International Airport has been totally cleaned up and renovated since last I was there. Around a corner on the left-hand side in the arrivals hall, is the Stae post office that will give you the best value exchange for your money. The place looks spink and span in comparison to when I was there before. There are car rental agencies in Arrivals.

  • Madrid-Barajas - T4 ..... carl3748 February, 2010
Not bad night at the aero.
We were flying out at 6:45 am to Barcelona, and because of bus and metro timing, we had to spend the night at the airport. It wasn't bad. There were about 10 of us flying to Barcelona, and about 6 flying to Lisbon out of the same terminal, and aside from us, there were a few bums near the vueling check-in area. Though it was empty, we were still able to get through security at about 1am. We had been traveling for about 2 hours by that point (buses, metros, walking) so we got to an area of T4, and all threw our stuff on the floor, and proceeded to have one of the most uncomfortable experiences. The airport is beautiful, very clean, but very cold if you don't have a blanket. Some of my friends got kicked out of an area that had cushioned seating. The benches are pretty horrible for spending the night. if you are able to find benches without armrests, snatch them up because it's hard to sle...

  • Cancun - ..... Florence January, 2010
Had a couple bad and discontinued hours of sleep...
We slept at the airport because we had a 17-hours connection between flights and we did not want to pay for a hotel room. We stayed in the main lobby before security check (but the conditions are the same further, in the transit zone). The airport is tiny, but clean and quite safe, there are lockers (not too expensive), and the staff is friendly. Apart from that, you do not want to spend a night there. Seats all have armrests, making it impossible to lie down (there are a few broken armrests and people run to these spots hoping to spend a better night). Seats are hard, without cushions, anyways. You might choose to sleep on the floor (cold) - bring a good blanket or a small mattress if you can (I saw two people who looked like they actually spent a good night thanks to this). The lights do not prevent you from sleeping, but there is constant music (not very loud, though) which migh...

  • Buffalo NY - Buffalo Airport ..... Florence February, 2010
    Quite bad (loud)
We spent a night at Buffalo airport because of an early flight (6 am). It is a very small airport. We decided to settle on the 2nd floor (next to the check-in counters) because the 1st floor is very cold. There were a few spots with seats available, either near the exit (we thought it was a bit too risky, for we had our luggage with us), or between the caf/restaurant and the security check area. We chose the latter - TV(s) were on all night, as well as lights, and the staff was quite loud (clearing the tables and chairs and cleaning the restaurant/caf), preventing me from sleeping. A big, noisy floor cleaning machine went on almost all night, making it almost impossible to sleep (even with earplugs). In the morning people start arriving between 4 and 5 and the first flight lands around 5/5:30, so expect people to be walking around you while you are sleeping. Apart from that, the staff ...
